Cork Flooring

Cork flooring is another excellent environmentally friendly floor covering choice. Cork gives any room a natural look and adds warmth and softness underfoot. It is also naturally stain and moisture-resistant and has built-in acoustic and thermal insulation properties.

Cork floors are offered in both planks and squares and generally have a special polyurethane or varnish finish to help protect the cork and make cleaning easier. Floating cork floors can be used in almost any room in the home and are easy to maintain.

Cork’s remarkable properties are derived from its cellular structure of hollow, polyhedral (14 sided) cells with extremely strong yet flexible cell walls that are waterproof and airtight. Joined together in a honeycomb-like fashion, cork cells produce a very low-density, compressible insulating material. As a floor covering, cork is durable, provides acoustical and thermal insulation, cushions the foot, is resistant to moisture damage and decay and is easy to clean.
